Hi, there! Welcome to The Orange. I am Lisa, mom to four beautiful children and wife to the most amazing husband. I grew up in Orange, California. Over the years I have had the pleasure of living in Idaho, Utah and Massachusetts. In December 2004, we moved our little family back to sunny Southern California from Boston, where we lived for 5 years. I love our home in citrus country and we plan on being here for a long while.
I have a bachelors degree in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of Utah. My original degree was journalism — since I love to write. For that reason, this blog is my happy place. A space where I can marry my love of family with my love of writing.
I married my best friend and college sweetheart in Salt Lake City, Utah, in March 1996. We have experienced so much together over the past twenty-four years. We love to travel and explore the world with our four children.
On an average day, you will most likely find me at home doing the mom thing: Homeschooling our daughter with Down syndrome, trying to keep up with a very busy three year old, chauffeuring our sixteen year old to school and to train as a hunter jumper on her horse, Pico. When I’m not doing those things, I’m texting my son in Tennessee–where he is attending Blackbird Academy in Nashville. I love my family fiercely and enjoy squeezing the most out of life with them by my side.
